Shamanism
Shamanism is a way of understanding and healing the world, and us as individuals. It is a spiritual practice as well as a tool for healing which can be used to explore our psyche and our shadows, to shine light on subconscious patterns that are causing us harm, allowing us to break free from them. The practice of shamanism helps us to feel more connected to ourselves and all that exists. Shamanism is a beautiful way to develop our innate psychic abilities.
Animism and the Quantum Field
Shamanism is defined by the word animism, which means all things are living and have a spirit and creative force, the force which creates life itself. Everything is consciousness, from the single atom, to trees, rocks and the universe in its entirety. In the worldview of the shaman all beings are interconnected and interdependent. If one species suffers all are affected as we are all, ultimately the same thing- consciousness.

This all relates to what Quantum Physicists call 'The Unified Field' or what the Shaman calls the Web Of Power. If we approach life with this view we can discover the true power that lies within us and we begin to feel the utmost respect and love for all that exists. We are all connected at the subatomic level. Through shamanic techniques we can connect with the Web and with Spirits to help us in our journeys and to heal us on the soul and energetic level.

Shamanic healing involves either removing energy within us, that does not belong to us, such as energetic attack from others, astral entities or earthbound spirits. Or, on the other hand, it returns energy outside of us that belongs within us and our energy centres, through techniques such as power or soul retrieval.

The Shamanic Healing Process

The Shamanic Practitioner connects with the Web of Power through entering an altered state of consciousness which is called a Shamanic Trance Ecstasy or Ecstatic Trance State. The practitioner can gain knowledge by entering different realities and communicating with their guides in order to heal and empower themselves and others.

In this trance state, brought about by repetitive drumming or rattling, the Shamanic Practitioner ‘journeys’ to other worlds known as the non-ordinary reality; in these realms there are compassionate, helping spirits and power animals. The Shamanic Practitioner knows how to create a bridge between this ordinary reality and non-ordinary reality and has a foot in both worlds simultaneously, they then become a conduit for the divination, messages, and healing powers of the Spirit World.

The journey to becoming a Shamanic Practitioner involves journeying to these non-ordinary realities which develops their psychic abilities alongside developing relationships with their helping spirits and power animals. These relationships are the force behind the practitioner's ability to help heal others.

Through repetitive drumming or rattling, for ten minutes or more, we experience a shift in our consciousness. Just as the frequencies of the gong or crystal bowls entrain the listeners brain waves to the Theta state in a sound bath, so does the drum or rattle for the practitioner. The Theta brainwaves thin the veil between the conscious and subconscious mind, between this reality and the non ordinary reality. This allows us to open up to guidance from our higher self, our own subconscious and to receive visions and messages from our guides and spirit helpers.
